The Pennsylvania MMJ Program

The Pennsylvania MMJ (Medical Marijuana) Program allows Pennsylvania residents to access MMJ through the Medical Marijuana Registry. This means that very sick patients can register for an ID card and use that card to buy cannabis at Pennsylvania dispensaries throughout the state. If you are a patient who needs to register, this page should be helpful. Good luck with your application process!

  • First, you must register for the program through the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Registry. This profile asks for basic information such as your legal name, current address, and contact information. • Next, you need to have a physician certify that you suffer from one of the medical conditions that qualify for medical marijuana. Physicians who recommend medical marijuana in Pennsylvania are required to register with the Department of Health. If your current physician is not registered with the Department of Health, you can find an approved physician here.
  • Once you have been certified by an approved physician, the doctor will enter your certification in the system. You will then receive an email confirmation with your next steps on how to pay for your medical marijuana ID card. The cost of a medical marijuana ID card is $50. Patients who participate in assistance programs including Medicaid, PACE/PACENET, CHIP, SNAP, and WIC may be eligible for fee reductions.
